Chhattisgarh Industry Dialogue on Green Steel secures investment commitments of ₹13,840 crore* *Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai calls for Chhattisgarh's steel to be converted into downstream and specialty products within the state; projects to generate 10,921 employment opportunities
Raipur, 13 August 2026।
The Chhattisgarh Industry Dialogue on Green Steel, organised by the Government of Chhattisgarh in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), concluded with investment commitments of 13,840 crore. These projects are expected to generate 10,921 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai attended the Dialogue as Chief Guest. "Steel and mining are the foundation on which Chhattisgarh's industrial identity was built, and they will remain our strength. But the time has come to build the next floor on that foundation," said Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. "Our steel should no longer leave the state in its primary form. It should be converted here into downstream and specialty products for auto components, engineering goods, railways, defence and solar equipment. If the value addition happens in Chhattisgarh, the jobs are created in Chhattisgarh. That is the shift this Dialogue is about, and the government will support every investor who wants to be part of it." Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai noted that the world is moving towards green steel in view of zero-carbon commitments, and that Chhattisgarh has been among the leading states in the country in adopting green steel. A power surplus of over 26,000 MW and competitive industrial tariffs make the state particularly suited to energy-intensive downstream manufacturing. The commitments announced at the Dialogue come against the backdrop of broader industrial momentum. Chhattisgarh has received investment proposals of nearly 8 lakh crore over the past 18 months under the Industrial Development Policy 2024-30, spanning artificial intelligence and data centres, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, textiles and agro-processing, in addition to its traditional sectors. Investor confidence has been reinforced by a series of governance reforms. Chhattisgarh became the first state in the country to enact an Ease of Doing Business Act, introducing a risk-based regulatory framework with self-certification for low-risk enterprises and deemed approvals where applications are not processed within prescribed timelines reforms expected to benefit close to 15 lakh MSMEs. In the CRISIL-NITI Aayog Investment Friendliness Index 2026, the state secured the first rank among major states in Regulatory Ease and Institutional Environment, the two parameters most closely watched by investors, and ranked second in Environmental Resilience. The state was also recently conferred the GeM Sustainable Procurement Award at the tenth Foundation Day celebrations of the Government Marketplace in New Delhi. Industrial development is also being extended beyond the established Raipur-Bhilai belt. Four new industrial parks have been sanctioned in Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Janjgir-Champa and Bastar districts. The Government of India has additionally approved an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) at Rajnandgaon, spread over approximately 306 acres, which is expected to draw over 23,000 crore in investment and create nearly 9,000 employment opportunities, with anchor interest already received from companies in the semiconductor, electric vehicle and smart electronics segments. "Chhattisgarh's red carpet is open for investors," the Chief Minister said. "Our policy is clear, our processes are transparent, approvals come within defined timelines, and there is no place for red tape. We will work together, and we will succeed together.*
